The One Day New Mexico mission trip will focus on providing opportunities for God’s people to share the Good News and saturate two New Mexico communities with the gospel: Silver City and Tucumcari. One Day has been set as happening on Saturday, September 27th.
Baptist Convention of New Mexico churches are encouraged to put together a mission team of folks who want to participate. A few churches may need to travel to one of the One Day communities on Friday in order to be there to fully participate on Saturday. However, most churches will be able to travel on Saturday to the One Day community, participate in the outreach opportunities, and return home, all in One Day!
The One Day events will be preceded by 40 days of prayer, starting on Monday, August 18th, and going through to September 27th, the date for the One Day New Mexico mission trip. Using the "40 Days for One Day" prayer guide, every New Mexico Baptist can be part of this outreach effort.
Additionally, as part of preparation for participating in One Day, mission team members will be led through learning how to turn everyday conversations into gospel conversations through 3 Circles training. This training is six sessions long and will begin on the week of Sunday, August 17th and conclude the week before One Day, on the week of Sunday, September 21st.
Mission team members will have opportunities the share the gospel through the various One Day activities they can choose to participate in. For example, in Tucumcari, mission team members can serve as part of a Survey/Prayer Walking team. They may also choose to assist with a free car wash and vacuum service that will be offered to the community. They might elect to help with the No Sale Yard Sale. Or they can join in working in one of three One Day Vacation Bible Schools that will be conducted in Tucumcari city parks. Finally, everyone can help with the Block Party that will conclude the One Day activities. Every one of these activities will offer a chance for meaningful, life changing gospel conversations with Tucumcari residents.
Soon, an online sign-up form will allow individuals or groups to let us know they are coming and which activities they want to participate in. A resource page is being developed as part of the Tri-Area website, which will allow churches to download items like the 40 Days for One Day prayer guide and the 3 Circles training material.
So pray for One Day, promote One Day, and plan on participating in One Day on September 27th!
