Special-Called Association Meeting
The Moderator of our Executive Board, Rusty Kenyon, has called for a special association meeting for March 28, 2026 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church House. The purpose of the meeting is to have messengers vote on the Director of Missions Search Committee's recommended candidate for our next Director of Missions, Damon Pearce.
Since we are Baptists, we probably couldn't get together without having a meal! So the association will provide brisket prepared by Steve Davis. The churches are asked to provide sides, salads, and desserts. The type of dish requested is based on geographic location.

Tucumcari area churches are asked to provide sides. Clovis area churches are asked to provide salads. Portales area churches are asked to provide desserts. A local FFA group will assist in serving and cleaning up after the meal in order for all the church members to fully participate in the meeting.

In September, 2025 they purchased a new-to-them church building at 221 Anderson, Texico, NM. and have been making renovations to the building ever since. You can see some of the progress pictures below.

According to Mike McCune, their pastor, the church is hoping to be able to have their first service in this new building on Easter Sunday! And to celebrate even further, it will be debt-free! Praise God for His many blessings on this congregation!

FBC Melrose Has Great
AWANA Kick-off
Per their Facebook post, FBC Melrose had their best start to AWANA!! They had over 40 kids and 20 adults - what an amazing start to this semester of AWANA! They had crafts, snacks and games. The counsel times lesson was on 1 John 1:9 about how Jesus cleans us from sin when we confess them to Him. There is nothing that you can do that Jesus can’t forgive you of.

"The Harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Matthew 9:35-38 (CSB)
On September 26, 2026, the One Day Mission Trip will step into two communities where the harvest is immense and the need for the gospel is undeniable. The two areas that will be the focus for this mission trip are Roswell and the East Mountains area. Truly these fields are ripe for harvest and this day of mission is a call to labor faithfully so that many may come to know the joy of salvation.
One of the ways you can participate from your own location before that date is to PRAY. To help you in guiding your prayers for this event, you can access the March prayer guide by clicking HERE. Link to March One Day Prayer Guide in Spanish.

PRAY FOR MISSIONARIES WITH
NEW MEXICO TIES
Karen Pilgreen has been providing a great ministry of sending out a monthly newsletter. about missionaries with New Mexico ties. She is stepping down from doing this but the good news is that she has been training Emily Taigaafi to step into those shoes.
Emily has created a new email that is specifically for those updates. That email is: nmupdates@proton.me
Anyone who is currently on the mailing list has been transferred to the new email address and should get the prayer list email as normal!
Emily has also created a form for anyone who wishes to sign up for the updates. Here is the link to the FORM.

The Book of the Week is The Final Days of Jesus by Andreas Köstenberger and Justin Tayler, et al. It is listed in the New Testament Special Studies portion of the Good Books section under the Encourage tab on the Tri-Area website.

Walk With Jesus During His Last Week on Earth
On March 29, AD 33, Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem and boldly predicted that he would soon be put to death―executed on a cross, like a common criminal. So began the most important week of the most important person who ever lived.
Nearly 2,000 years later, the events that took place during Jesus’s last days still reverberate through the ages. Designed as a day-by-day guide to Passion Week, The Final Days of Jesus leads us to reexamine and meditate on the history-making, earth-shaking significance of Jesus’s arrest, trial, crucifixion, and empty tomb.
Combining a chronological arrangement of the Gospel accounts with insightful commentary, charts, and maps, this book will help you better understand what actually happened all those years ago―and why it matters today.
- *Recounts Christ’s Journey to the Cross: Pairing the Scriptural text with insightful commentary, this book serves as a day-by-day guide to Jesus’s final days on earth
-
- *Chronological: Presents all of the biblical text on Jesus's final week continuously and in the order the events occurred in history
-
- *Helpful Study Tools: Includes a quick-reference glossary and color maps adapted from the award-winning ESV Study Bible
-
- *For Individuals, Families, and Groups
