New Testament Installs Upgraded

Audio/Visual System to Sanctuary

The initial install of upgraded audio/visual systems for New Testament Baptist Church in Portales happened Saturday, January 17th. They were able to move the sound system to the back of the auditorium and hook up all screens and monitors with wireless connections and get their new hearing-impaired system up and running for Sunday Services. Now that the initial installation is done, they will be working to hide the wiring and set their new sound booth up with a full cabinet. Great work from Pastor Manuel Barrera as they grow and go! It is going to look great!

Thank you, Roy Martin, for working with this and so many other churches in our association in improving sound and video capabilities!

Camping on the Rock,

Build Your Life on Him!

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock; in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  Psalm 18:2

That is the theme and verse of this year's Ute Lake Camp Meeting.  It will be held June 4-6 at Ute Lake.  Make plans to attend!

Patrick Pachta will be the Camp Pastor and James Golden will lead music.  Kay Erwin will lead the children.

Nathan Windsor is the Camp Director and Bevin Avent is the Assistant Camp Director Contact Joe Garrett at 575-309-9065 for reservations.

“Dress A Girl”.  An international organization that provides opportunities for anyone with serving and sewing skills to put together vital clothing for missions all over the planet, in places where the gospel is not readily available to be heard. Missionaries can present girls with a dress and that opens the door for the missionaries to be able to also present the gospel.

This project of Dress A Girl is a team effort with women and men from all over the world. The Tri-Area has many women making dresses.  Many of these dresses go into Christmas boxes.  Dress A Girl has been blessed with donations of fabric and other sewing supplies.   We have kits being made and sent out along with dresses being made.

If any of you know of missionaries that could use some dresses, please let us know.  Especially if missionaries are going to be in our area, we have suitcases that we would be able to fly some dresses with them when they return to their missionary field.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Marsha Stowe at 575-760-5603.

"The Harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few.  Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."  Matthew 9:35-38 (CSB)

On September 26, 2026, the One Day Mission Trip will step into two communities where the harvest is immense and the need for the gospel is undeniable.  The two areas that will be the focus for this mission trip are Roswell and the East Mountains area.  Truly these fields are ripe for harvest and this day of mission is a call to labor faithfully so that many may come to know the joy of salvation.

One of the ways you can participate from your own location before that date is to PRAY.  To help you in guiding your prayers for this event, you can access the January prayer guide by clicking HERE,

'Thriving Church Podcast'

Launched January 19

ALBUQUERQUE (BNM) - The Baptist Convention of New Mexico has launched a weekly podcast: The Thriving Church Podcast. The first regular episode was released January 19. Hosts Kevin Parker and Rick Brittain cover topics aimed at helping churches be stronger, healthier, reach people and build spiritual champions who live out God’s Kingdom across New Mexico and around the world. They will host guests from inside and outside the state, including pastors, church members, Southern Baptist Convention thought leaders and convention staff.

The conversational podcast caters to a wide audience: church members, church leaders and pastors. It is more than a leadership podcast. Produced to be 15 minutes or shorter, per episode, the podcast is easy and accessible for listening.

The BCNM’s social media and websites manager, Hope Evans, will also join the podcast as its events announcer. She will provide a segment of upcoming event information call “Thirty Seconds of Hope.”

Conversations are based upon the belief that God designed every church to thrive and flourish – to be healthy and effective. They explore the path to becoming a healthy, effective church and how a church maintains its health and impact? Parker and Brittain hope listeners will discover tools, tips, resources, ideas and approaches that can help their churches thrive.

Currently, an introductory five-minute “episode 0” and Episode 1 are available for streaming or download at the podcast website, ThrivingChurchPodcast.com. In Episode "0", Parker and Brittain give a sample of the format and talk about both the audience and coming content.

A new episode drops every Monday morning. Six episodes are already recorded and ready for release. Episodes will encourage use of the rubric “listen, customize, apply, impact.”

The initial series of conversations walks through the 12 characteristics of a biblically healthy church. The International Mission Board uses the concepts for international, cross-cultural church planting. The BCNM has adopted them as its model for healthy churches.

At this time, the podcast will be audio-only. The production team is considering a video format later in the year or in early 2027.

Resources and past episodes will be accessible from the podcast website, ThrivingChurchPodcast.com.

Central is inviting you to an evening with Brett Henderson for their Sportsman's Fellowship Banquet.  March 28, 2026 is the evening to set aside to attend. More information will be coming in future newsletters.

The Book of the Week is Make My Church Safe: A Guide to the Best Practices to Protect Children and Secure Your Congregation from Harm by Sam Ranier.  It is listed in the Children's Ministry portion of the Good Books section under the Encourage tab on the Tri-Area website.

A concise guide to the best practices in making your church safe for members and attendees of all ages.

Every church should be a safe space for everyone who comes in. Every church should also be equipping people to confront the powers of darkness and help those in trouble. Unfortunately, far too many churches are unsafe internally, which leaves them unprepared to confront external dangers. An unsafe church creates a toxic environment that works against the gospel. A safe church is battle-ready to combat the worst of the world’s problems. Make My Church Safe by respected pastor, Sam Rainer, is designed to be a brief and general overview of the best practices regarding church safety for a broad audience.

In the book, you’ll learn:

  • how to recognize the telltale signs of abuse
  • how to set up a system for training volunteers
  • how to provide true accountability for leaders and pastors
  • how to move forward after a moral failure occurs
  • the ten nonnegotiable rules of safety around children and students
