Ablaze
2026
Was Great!
|
40 children and 18 adults attended the association's 2026 Young Lives Ablaze on Saturday, April 18 at Parkland Baptist in Clovis. A lot of fun was had with energetic music, games, crafts, object lessons, and spiritual growth lessons. They were encouraged to recognize how they were made in God's image.
|
Worship music was led by TJ Cathey and his wife and son. Dawn Kirk led some of the sessions. Lance Myers led main sessions. Damon Pearce led in prayer before pizza was served. Additional leaders included Geralyn Boydstun, CJ Garrett, and Amanda Kenyon, as well as individual church sponsors.
Our thanks to all those who made the day such a success!
|
A variety of lessons were enhanced by crafts and team-building activities.
|
The bounce elements and races were a big hit with the kids (and some leaders)! But what goes up, must come down.

Sandia Church in Clovis is ordaining their newest deacon, Chris Miller, on April 26, 2026 at 2 p.m. Sandia is inviting all ordained men of the association to participate in this ordination by laying on of hands and praying over Chris.

Glorify God among the Nations -Seeking Him In All Generations
That is the theme for this year's National Day of Prayer.
May 7 is the National Day of Prayer in the United States. There are a couple of events planned for communities in our area. If you learn of other events, share that information with the association office!
The day starts with a Walk & Pray at Hillcrest Park in Clovis from sun-up to sun-down. The location for the Clovis gathering is in front of the Curry County Courthouse (7th and Main) at noon. In case of rain (💧!), it will move to Legacy Life Church.
Portales will be gathering at RCEC Park (corner of First and Main) from noon to one p.m.
When we gather together in prayer, we support and encourage one another, creating a powerful atmosphere of faith. It is in these moments that we can set aside our differences and come together, united by a common purpose—to seek the presence of God. Let’s rethink unity in our gatherings and acknowledge how it invites God’s Spirit to move among us as we pray together.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
May 6 is Reading of the Scriptures Day in Clovis. This takes place at a location of your choice: at home, on a walk around your neighborhood, etc. Choose a passage of scripture and read out-loud!

Director of Missions
Hits the Road Running
Our Director of Missions has been busy getting settled in and visiting churches and ministers! On Saturday, he attended the Young Lives Ablaze event and got to know several of our children's leaders from various churches. Sunday found him and Bonnie visiting the early Service at Central Baptist in Clovis and then went to Melrose Baptist for their morning service. That evening Damon worshipped with University Baptist in Portales. Where will he be this next Sunday? Be looking forward to a contact from him to schedule a time to be with your church.
Monday evening found him enjoying the Tucumcari-area ministers fellowship. He visited one-on-own with ministerial staff and met with the Personnel Committee at Central on Wednesday evening.
Pictured below with Damon and Bonnie are BJ Brooks at Central, outside FBC Melrose (forgot to get a picture with Tyler Eanes), and Timothy Smith from Forrest Community (who also serves as Youth Minister at University), and Steve Smith, pastor at University.
