Director of Missions
Bonnie and I were blessed to visit First Baptist Santa Rosa this past Sunday for their morning worship. There was a wonderful crowd and pastor Matt Montoya shared a great message from the Book of Acts. The people were friendly and excited about what the Lord is doing in their congregation. There were folks of all ages, and even a friendly puppy dog who slept through most of Matt's sermon (he was the only one.) It was a blessing to be with the church family at Santa Rosa.
Sunday evening we were at Central Baptist Church in Clovis for the ordination of Kevin Williams. Kevin has been called to serve as the pastor at First Baptist Church, Dora. It was a blessing to join members and leaders of both congregations to celebrate Kevin's calling to ministry. He is already doing a great job there.
We are now in the FINAL COUNTDOWN for the One Day Event in Roswell. There are now more than 900 people registered to share the Gospel this Saturday in Roswell and Estancia. And the first DECISION for CHRIST has already been recorded. Two weeks ago, as students and adults were training for One Day ministries at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Portales, one of the students begin to feel the Lord speaking to her about Salvation, Some of the workers prayed for her, and she trusted Jesus to be her Savior. She was baptized at Emmanuel last Sunday.

One Day Registration
Pastors: we are drawing near to the deadline to register for our Vision Trip for missions in Honduras next April. We want you to have all the information that you need when praying about this ministry, so we are going to focus our October Zoom Meeting on this ministry Mario Navarro and CJ Garrett will be joining us to talk about the vision for this ministry and the details on the April trip. Remember there are MANY ways to join in this ministry:
* PRAY for our planning for the trip in April.
* PROVIDE finances for those going.
* PARTICIPATE by joining us in this ministry.
Mark your calendars for this month's zoom meeting and join in to learn about what the Lord is doing through this new partnership in Honduras.
Registration is now open for our Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 24, at FBC Melrose. Details are available on the Association web site. Mark your calendars now and join us in Melrose for a short business session followed by a great time of Worship and the Word. We will finish up the evening with a BBQ dinner with the association providing the meat and messengers bringing the sides. Tucumcari area churches are asked to bring salads, Portales area churches bring side dishes and Clovis area churches bring desserts. There will be information available about the many ministry partners of the Association. It is going to be a wonderful evening. Please join us in Melrose for our annual celebration.
This last Saturday Bonnie and I got to host several of our Hispanic pastors and their wives in our home. We had such a wonderful time. CJ Garrett shared the vision Portales churches are developing for the community Christmas Parade and Portales Community Christmas Candlelight service in December. I am grateful for these men and their families and how they serve in our Association.
 
This past Sunday, at Kevin Williams' Ordination, Jim Brown - the Interim Pastor at Central Baptist shared a story:
A mother sat down with her little girl and said "Sweetie, I just want you to know that your Father is a Pastor. Your Grandfather was a pastor before him and your Great-Grandfather was also a pastor. You Great-Great Grandfather was a pastor and before him your Great-Great-Great Grandfather was also a pastor." The little girl thought for moment and says "I sure do have a lot of fathers."
Sometimes pastors don't get noticed. Sometimes they are even deliberately excluded. Pastors, I want you to know that I notice you and appreciate you. I am here to help you any way I can. Bonnie and I are grateful to get to serve with you. If I can help you in any way, please call or text.
