It is not too late to register to attend the Tri-Area Association's Annual Meeting at First Baptist Melrose on Saturday, October 24. It will really help us if you register your messengers in advance. Our annual gathering is more than just a meeting. We will work on the business of our Association for the coming year, but we will also celebrate what the Lord has done in this past year and challenge ourselves for ministries to come.
We are planning a barbeque dinner after the meeting. The Association is providing the meat. Like we did for the meeting in House in April we are inviting each group coming to bring a dish for the meal. Here is how we are dividing up the other dishes:
-
Tucumcari area churches bring salads.
-
Clovis area churches bring side dishes.
-
Portales area churches bring desserts.
PLAN to join us for the Annual Meeting, REGISTER your church messengers, and PRAY for a great movement of the Lord as we meet on October 24. Here is the LINK to the registration page to register.

We welcome the Dylan Panteline family to the area and the Association! Dylan has been called to be the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, Portales and will bring his first sermon there on October 25th.

This is a some information Dylan shared:
My wife, Tori, and I have been married since March of 2020. We have two girls, Norah (3 years old) and Harper (6 Months), as well as two dogs, Ruth and Owen. I graduated from Boyce College and Southern Seminary in May of 2021 with both my Bachelors of Biblical and Theological Studies and my Master of Divinity. I have served on staff as a Youth Pastor in Vine Grove, KY (2020-2022) and Senior Pastor in Grafton, NY (2022-2026). Some of my personal hobbies include reading, following sports, and playing golf. My family and I are excited to be part of the Tri-Area Association and serving the Eastern New Mexico area with the gospel!

Notes from our Director of Missions
October is the month of critical meetings for New Mexico Baptists. Bonnie and I have been in Albuquerque this week for the BCNM State Convention at Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
Just a few days from now is our Tri-Area Association Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 24, at First Baptist Church in Melrose. Doors will open at 3:30 pm. We will have a short business session, followed by a time of worship led by the FBC Melrose Worship Team. I will be bringing the message from the Book of Isaiah. Then we will enjoy a wonderful BBQ dinner.
The Annual Meeting is an important time together for several reason:
* Like a family reunion, we enjoy FELLOWSHIP together that we do not get to enjoy often enough.
* We practice good STEWARDSHIP as we discuss our activities of the past year and plans for the coming year.
* We hear plans for PARTNERSHIP in ministry - projects that would never be possible individually but are possible cooperatively.
* We celebrate our LEADERSHIP - men and women who have served on our Executive Board in the past years and new members for the coming term.

The Annual Meeting is more than just a business session. It is a family reunion, pep rally and worship celebration all rolled into one. Join us Saturday October 24 in Melrose. If you have not already done so, please take the time to register so we know you are coming. Don't miss it! (See the link above.)

I hope your church was able to share the Prayer Guide for our Week of Prayer for Associational Missions. The Week of Prayer started October 18 but it could be used for any week so if you did not get the guide please let us know and we will get it to you. There is a daily emphasis for prayer for the varied ministries we share as as an Association. I appreciate our churches focusing on prayer for the work we do together as an Association. Remember our weekly "Churches Praying for Churches" emphasis. Here are the congregations we are praying for this week:

Bonnie and I were at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis on Sunday where I preached for Pastor Wayne Boydstun as he enjoyed a well-deserved day off.

That evening we dropped in on Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where they just so happened to be having their first fellowship in their newly renovated kitchen. It is beautifully done and I know it will serve their congregation for years to come.

I look forward to seeing you this Saturday in Melrose!
Please don't hesitate to call me if I can help you and your church in any way.
Grateful to be serving!
Damon

The Tri-Area Baptist Association Executive board met on Monday, October 5, 2026. Rusty Kenyon, Moderator, opened with a short devotion and prayer. The board reviewed and approved the minutes from the prior meeting and the financial report thru September 30, 2026. The budget for 2027 was discussed and approved. There was discussion and agreement about changing the credit card company we have been utilizing
Jim Hogg, the Tri-Area Disaster Relief Coordinator reported on the current status of the truck which Tri-Area was able to purchase. He also reported on the local DR efforts in Clovis after the rains in September and that there had been a fund-raiser at the Mayor's Ball that raised $6000 for local disaster relief efforts.
A proposed Ministry Use policy or guideline for use of the truck was discussed and tabled for further work on the document. Beau Lamb agreed to work on this to bring to the next board meeting.
Damon Pearce, our Director of Missions, stated that there had been a meeting of leaders for DNow and they are working on a plan for when and how that would look like. He also brought up the need to replace at least 2 of the bounce house elements. The board approved such a purchase.
The Association's annual meeting was discussed and expenses were approved. Nominations for filling the 3 board member openings were discussed and recommendations will be brought to the annual meeting.
Upcoming events were mentioned and status of churches seeking their next ministry leaders. The meeting ended with prayer led by Beau Lamb.
